Tshwene lodge is best described as a secluded oasis in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. Nestled in the valley of the Taaibos River, the lodge is surrounded by the rugged cliffs of the Waterberg that reverberate the nightly calls of the Chacma Baboon.

Luxury accommodation at Tshwene comprises of suites that are furnished with plush double beds and large en suite bathrooms, both immersed in spectacular natural surrounds. Taking in the view of the setting sun is as easy as stepping out on to the wooden deck of your suite.

Warm days call for a refreshing splash in the private outdoor showers adjoining each en suite bathroom, and nights don’t get more romantic than soaking in ample tubs with glasses of champagne while the elephants rumble softly in the woods outside.

Wildlife

Situated in the foothills of the imposing Waterberg Mountains, the Welgevonden nature reserve is a sanctuary for indigenous African wildlife.

Over 300 species of birds, as well as an abundance of mammals, including the Big Five, call this mountain paradise home. Some of the game you can expect to see here includes zebras, wildebeest, antelope and cheetah on the open savannah plains; chacma baboons making mischief in the cliffs where leopards lie in wait; and the rarely seen aardvark and aardwolf which venture out after dusk.

BY ROAD:

Travel along the N1 north to Polokwane and pass the Kranskop toll gate.
Stay left at Kranskop, continue on to the R33 to Modimolle (Nylstroom).
At the T-junction turn left towards Nylstroom (Modimolle) and continue straight on for approximately 70 km to Vaalwater.
Stay on the main road and pass directly through both Nylstroom and Vaalwater.
Continue through Vaalwater, staying on the Thabazimbi road for approximately 24 km (do not turn left at south or east gate)and turn left at the Welgevonden main gate.

Please note: you will need to pay a gate entrance fee of R160 per vehicle and R40 per person. The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (Prices subject to change)
