BY AIR:

  • Scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit/Eastgate Airport take approximately 50 minutes, followed by a road transfer of approximately 50 minutes.
  • Scheduled flights from Cape Town to KMIA (Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport) take approximately 2.5 hours, followed by a road transfer of approximately 2.5 hours.

BY ROAD:

  • From Johannesburg:
  • From Or Tambo Airport, take the N12 to Witbank. (If traveling from Pretoria, take the N4 to Witbank)
  • Pass through Witbank and Middleburg
  • From Belfast, follow the R540 to Dullstroom and Lydenburg (now known as Mashishing)
  • From Lydenburg follow the R36 to Ohrigstad and Tzaneen
  • Travel through the Abel Erasmus pass and through the JG Strydom tunnel
  • Once through the tunnel, continue on the R36 until you see the R36 turning to the left to Tzaneen. DO NOT take this left turning, but continue straight on what is now the R527 to Hoedspruit
  • On arrival in Hoedspruit, travel straight through town until you reach a 4 way stop – turn right on the R40 (White River) Travel some 7 km’s out of town, and take the left turning marked Timbavati and Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport
  • Travel along this road until you reach the (new) Timbavati Entrance gate
  • From the gate, travel 13.9 km, and take a right turning following pointers to Jonniesdale At the 20,5 km mark, turn left, following the Jonniesdale pointers
  • Continue straight on this road, and at 26km you must follow the signs to Ngala (ignore the Jonniesdale sign at this point)
  • At the next Ngala sign, follow the sign for Ngala deliveries to the right
  • 400 metres further you will see another Ngala sign – follow the right fork in this road, where you see the Shindzela sign
  • Continue to follow Shindzela signs. Pass the old camp of white rondawels, and continue to Shindzela Bush Camp
  • Driving time from Johannesburg is approximately 5.5/ 6 hours

Please Note: Entering through the Timbavati Private Game Reserve gate you will be required to pay a Conservation levy of R170 per person and R120 toll for your vehicle. The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (prices subject to change)
