3 Days 2 Nights
3 Days Kruger Walking Safari lets you discover nature’s hidden wonders in specially tailored walking trails through a 12,000 ha private wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park itself. The concession shares a 15km unfenced boundary with the famous Sabi Sand Private reserve – thus allowing free movement of wildlife within this vast area. The walking concession is an excellent game viewing area and good sightings can be expected.
Your safari starts at OR Tambo International Airport (formerly Johannesburg International), with a scheduled flight to Skukuza in the Kruger National Park where your guide will meet you and take you on a short game drive on route to the lodge. At Plains Camp you will be welcomed with broad smiles and cold fruit juice. You will settle into your comfortable safari tents where you can freshen up before setting off on your first exciting game walk where you can come face to face with some of Africa’s big game.
Built in true pioneer tradition Plain’s Camp offers four African explorer-style tents which are set in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket. The camp overlooks the spectacular Timbitene plain, abundant in game – which can also be viewed from the revitalizing plunge pool.
In the evening, enjoy some time around the campfire, enjoying an excellent dinner. There is a spotlight on the wooden deck which you can use to observe the visitors to the waterhole plains stretching out in front of you.
Set out on an early morning game walk to discover the mysteries of the bush. Let your professional guide teach you how to identify animals from their spoor and which plants have medicinal qualities. You will be amazed at what the Elephant dung can be used for.
Satisfy the appetite you worked up during your game walk with a scrumptious brunch. The next couple of hours are yours to relax, read a book, catch up on some sleep, take a dip in the pool or simply enjoy the natural sounds of the bush. Later another game walk will have you putting your newfound knowledge to the test in tracking spoor.
On the final day of your safari you can experience the thrill of an early morning game drive or walk. After brunch you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to OR Tambo International Airport.
This itinerary can also easily be combined with a visit to a Private Reserve, or a relaxing beach destination in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago.
